Nesting Diaries
Picture uploaded - First Osprey that I have seen in the area this year - a female was perched on this nest today. No male as of yet. She seemed like she owned the nest, chased a few crows and even a Kestrel away from the area and returned to the nest. Will keep an eye on it. Again, first Osprey in this area, have been checking in the last 7 days - every day- for activity.
Nest occupied and they are sitting on the nest.
I confirmed today 3 large chicks on the nest with MOM feeding them this morning. Dad watching from a pole right next to the church. Wow! They all look great.
At least one nestling observed at this nest over the last few days. Dont know how the nest thrives given all of the activity nearby, especially with the 10 day long carnival happening in the field directly under the nest. They are making it, however.
There appears to be 2 nestlings at this time. Tough to observe due to location, but saw feeding activity this morning on the nest with at least 2 little heads up there.
Thrilled to see both nestlings today with Mom on the perch and Dad standing watch from a nearby utility pole. All look hot but healthy. HHH summer day here today. Pics uploaded. First is Mama and the two fledges, the other is Dad nearby on a utility pole.
Beautifully built nest platform. Been watching this since the spring, and Adults are always watching closely over the area. Finally today I was able to observe two nestlings - grabbed a pic. Will upload.
