Nesting Diaries
snag nest came down fall of 2023
still challenged by the new format of this website, not user friendly for those of us who monitor large number of nests and wish to add last years data, no alphabetical or numerically listed nests, hard to boar down on map, in general not an improvement from 2021 site, currently i am unable to remove the 0 fledgling number as i placed it in error so i will hope to be able to change it in a month or so, chick still alive in nest today
male at nest area for about a week, no female confirmed
had not seen chick in few days at least and found it dead under the nest early this evening, did not appear to have been preyed upon, it appeared to have fallen out of the nest
may be more but saw just one small chicks head today at 11:00 am, very hot day, observed the male feeding both the female and the chick today, unusual but cool to see an adult male nurturing at the nest. it will be interesting to see how fledglings do with a nest in a deeper canopy of trees.
activity at nest but unable to confirm chick feeding at this time
incubation observed today
pair has built up a nice nest in a larger snag/dead tree slightly closer to the boardwalk, both at nest area today at 2pm, 68, SSE 7 mph and sun
no nest remains but one osprey in area
adults both on snag nest tree but not any nest material remains
no activity at nest snag but continue to see one or both adults in the trees
one adult on snag near starter nest, could not see if it was male or female
snag nest all but gone, female and then the male perched in trees
pair at snag near nest , male with fish , the nest looks like its smaller than last week, the wind may be shredding it
pair has been working on the newest snag nest at the nature center for about a week, its looking like it might soon be ready for eggs, unless this pair is sub adults, time will tell, this makes 4 pairs at the nature center marsh!
