Nesting Diaries
I haven't been buy here for a while. No nest portions extend above the platform and I saw no activity. Not sure if the hatchlings fledged.
This pair and nest is doing well.
Two small heads were popping into view this morning.
I don't observe this nest as much as the others. Today I observed one hunkered down, seeming tending to eggs, and the other bringing in more nesting material or perching on a tree across the canal. This nest failed last year. Glad to see a another go, though the nest is not very deep or well structured. I will check back after this weekend's storm.
No activity the last few times I have been by.
I haven't been by since 6/15. No evidence of any activity today or from last time I came by.
I don't go by this nest often. The nest walls are a bit low so maybe one is there but I'm pretty sure it was vacant. One day last week I went by and it looked vacant as well.
one in nest today, appeared to be incubating or brooding
Still one hunkered down in incubation posture.
entering nest for the 2021 CIB state of the Bays Inland bays active nest survey, location is slightly out of the watershed but is being monitored by volunteers
Today there was an osprey in incubation posture for the several minutes I observed.
I don't go by this nest much. A pair was seen a few weeks ago and again two weekends ago when I took a look.
There was activity here at the beginning the season but I have not observed much since the COVID outbreak. On one occasion it looked like a pair had claimed the nest. In this area there was a lot of competition / territorial behavior for the prime nest spots.
Today at 1300 the nest was vacant. 5 minutes of observations. No sign of the hatchling.
My first time over to this side of campus to see this platform. It is occupied. One young head was popping up during my 5 minutes observing. I will check periodically.
