Nesting Diaries

Two birds standing in nest. One defininte adult; the second could be a chick already getting tail feathers, but it was difficult to see, the adult was glaring at me, and I didn't want to stress them too much by remaining longer.

Osprey in nest. While I was watching, a mockingbird attacked the Osprey, who hissed, lunged at the mockingbird, and then spread its wings over the bottom of the nest.

Bird perched on edge of nest.

Observed 3/30, had a bird in brooding posture on the nest. The homeowner who lived under the nest reported that the nest has been active for 3 or 4 years, and that each year he has to replace one or two lawn mower tires because the discarded fish bones puncture them.

First observed 3/17 with a bird in incubating posture. When observed 3/24, had both a sitting bird and one perched nearby.
