Nesting Diaries

06/12/2017 by JeannieLuvsBirds
On 06/04 a the osprey nest caught on fire. Both the babies were killed. Being that the nest is right outside our back door, we watched helplessly as the babies panicked but never tried to jump until they were succumbed by flames. It was the most heartbreaking and horrible thing we've ever had to watch. We miss them dearly. A couple days after the fire, they came back and just sat there. Now we are noticing they are trying to bring back nesting material. We are happy to have them back but we are worried for them again. We've contacted TECO and the Audubon but have not heard back with help getting a platform built or deterrent
