Nesting Diaries

05/08/2015 by Ronnie
Unfortunately, a few short weeks after I initially posted, the adult osprey pair abandoned the nest. I'm not sure why. Since then, there have been occasional ospreys on the trees and pole near the nest, Occasionally, there will even be an osprey in the nest. I'm hoping it is an osprey pair planning a nest for next season.

This nest has been active for a number of years. Prior to its current location, it was on a utility pole a little east, still on Griffin Blvd.

A few years back, an active osprey nest, a bit further east on griffin, was on an utility pole. The nest caught fire. An Osprey platform was erected in the current nest location on a street lamp pole. The nest has been active every year since established. (The utility company did put wires where the old nest was to discourage further nesting at the old site)
