Substrate
Osprey Nest Platform
Description
Lat 37.47756 Long -75.95408 This nest was actually placed in the summer of 2013 after observing several unsuccessful attempts by a pair to build on top of a pine tree. The pair took a while to start building, but since it was so late in the season they just sat on the nest until migration time. They returned March 2014 and extended the nest structure. On April 9 it looked as if the female was beginning to incubate, however, an egg check on May 7 showed that there were no eggs in the nest. The pair is still on the nest on and off. Perhaps they get serious about this in 2015.

All the excitement of the first aftenoon evaporated the next day. Only one adult is on the nest and there is no building going on. Hopefully the building activity will resume as the weather gets warmer

This platform was destroyed during a storm late fall. It has been restored today and was immediately occupied by a pair. The pair was joined for a brief period by a third Osprey. That did not keep the "original" owners from collecting sticks and starting the nest building.
