Nesting Diaries
06/12/14 Nest appears to be abandoned. No birds in area.
04/08/14 Two adults at nest.
04/17/14 Nest appears to have been enlarged, no birds at site.
04/28/14 One sitting at nest.
05/12/14 One low in nest.
05/18/14 One on nest, one flying in area.
05/24/14 One at nest.
05/31/14 Checked two days in a row, and no birds seen at the nest or in the area.
07/17/13 Still no activity around the nest, so consider abandoned.
07/02/13 One adult sitting low in the nest. No other activity.
07/08/13 Checked the nest twice today, and once on 07/09/13, but no activity notd, and no birds in the area. Could possibly be a young pair " playing house" as we noted in th early 1970s in Idaho.
06/10/13 One adult perched alongside nest.
06/26/13 One adult in nest, arranging sticks and possibly eggs. A lot of time "sky watching" for mate. Very windy day.
06/03/13 Two at the nest, thenflyig around, one returning with a stick, then perched at nest edge.
06/04/13 Returned for photos, and one brought a catfish to the nest, followed by the other; after much calling, the one with the fish took off, followed by the other, diidn;t return before I had to leave.
5/20/13 This is definitely a new nest with a new pair, bringing in nesting sticks. The three other nests in the area are still occupied.
5/24/13 This new nest is coming along just fine, and today the pair was perched right alongside the developing nest, right proud of themselves.
05/17/13 Spotted this new nest after checking out #1406. An adult was perched alongside a freshly built, small nest, obviously searching around for it mate. This will be an easy nest to observe as there is a good turnout right aross the stream from the nest. The structure is in front of green pines, but the dead wood stands out ginst the green. Weekends are very busy along this road so left before too many saw my interest.
05/17/13 This pair may be from one of the other nests nearby, or a new pair returning to their natal grounds. No birds were observed on nest #1406 today.
