Nesting Diaries
Sorry to say that it appears that Amelia and Charles have abandoned their 4027 location.
Last year they had to rebuild 3X due to storm damage. Have seen Ospreys in the same area.
Going to miss them. Will keep monitoring.
Welcome back Charles and Amelia! It is great to see you guys back in Va Beach.
Looking healthy. They are flying around and chasing each other. Nest will have to built back up to support the family.
After arriving on 14 Mar to find their nest gone Amelia and Charles lived in trees and fished a lot. Finally started to build their bigger and better nest on 20 Mar 19.
Amelia and Charles (or their children) returned together 14 Mar 19. They came back to find their nest gone. Currently living in trees. Went fishing as soon as they returned.
June 20, 2018 there was a 10-day old nestling in the nest. May 17, there were 3 eggs. On July 11, the nest was gone. Was it destroyed during a strong storm on July 5th?
May 17, 2018 - three eggs
Well Amelia and Charles are back and right on time.
Had to rebuild their home again after the recent windstorm wiped out the old one.
After two days of hard work their new nest is complete.
I am glad to report that Amelia and Charles have returned to their nesting site. Bad news is that the nest was totally damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Good news is that the two have already started rebuilding their summer home.
Baby 49er is now soaring with his parents.
Having a great time in his waterfront property.
Baby Amelia and Charles has arrived.
Keeping his head low most of the time
but looks up when it is dinner time.
Our Ospreys came home 15 March 16 to find their nest totally gone by a winter storm. After 3 days of hard work they completed a new and better, and hopefully stronger, version.
Fishing is terrific here so all is well.
