Nesting Diaries
Nest is looking pretty shabby this year, Looks smaller then last year. hasn't changed much since they arrived on march 15 th. they are catching fish and eating on other light posts. we did see a mating attempt the day they arrived.
The nest is thriving, I feel we have three chicks and two adults. the chicks are now flying from light post to light post back to the nest. Lots of crying for food. Yesterday one of the young made it to the trees and watched dad fish in the pond.
They settled in and things were good till june one sunday morning a lot of squaking was going on and flying about. I think one of the chicks as taken. I only see one growing up.
They arrived and settled in. He brought her a fish and she was not interested, after two minutes he took it to different post and enjoyed it.
5/4 All appears to be calm. Female is incubating, but can't tell how many eggs. Good food supply seems to be a good factor. Complex is very active with hundreds of kids playing soccer, but it doesn't seem to bother this multi year pair.
This nest has been here for more than 3 years. This past winter it blew completely down. It has been rebuilt and is active. The male is banded, but I haven't been able to read it as yet.
