Nesting Diaries
The nest structure was destroyed, fallen, over the winter months.
This nest tree blew down over the winter.
07/02/13 No activity, assume nest abandoned.
06/10/13 Thought was ababdoned, but today two adults were sitting in the nest. Possibly playing "house" as we found in the 1970s?
06/26/13 Once again, no activity at the nest site, but three adults flying in area, one for sure from nest #1390.
06/03/13 No acticity at nest, nor birds in area that would be with this nest. ABANDONED.
5/24/13 First observation at 1100 hour, one bird in the incubating posture. Two adults flying high in the area, which could be the mates of the two nests very close together, both with incubating birds.
At 1300 hours, an adult brought a fish to the nest.
05/09/13 First activity observed this date this season, a lapse of 6 days, yet it seems the pair slipped in "ready to go" as I observed one on the edge of the nest, and one laying low in the nest in the incubating posture. This nest is hard to observe as the structure sits against other pines.
May 3, 2013 First observed this nest 04/03/13 at start of season, and to date there is no activity.
08/03/12 Three young low in nest, no adults around.
07/28/12 One adult was perched above the nest in adjoining tree. Two young seen moving about the nest, with one later flexing its wings on the edge of the nest.
07/18/12 One adult on the nest, feeding three visible young, appearing just beyond downy stage.
6/29 One adult on the nest in incubating posture, the other not observed.
6/14/12 One adult continues to be in incubating posture in the nest.
This nest was located while following an Osprey with fish fly from Lake Davis to the nest site. It is apparently an older nest at the top of a dead Jeffery Pine. An adult was in the incubating posture when viewed. Very inaccessible by ground.
