Nesting Diaries
Huge day in Osprey news. I was worried because I had seen only one adult on the nest all day. While I was watching, the female flew in, the male grabbed quick mating and flew away. After shaking out her feathers, she then regurgitated food and fed some chicks. So far I cannot see them nor count them. Still windy but sunny today.
The wind continues to be relentless. I do not see any additional heads, despite now viewing from a telescope. I've tried for pictures but they are just too far away. May have a deep freeze to night.
The parents are getting pounded by the winds and the spray from the waves. One of the pair is always on the nest and I observe hearty eating of fish.
High winds all weekend and it blew their nest away! Rebuilding has begun!
Today I saw the bigger (female?) of the two eating a fish while perched on top of a pole of my pier at 9377 Glass Road. I could see the osprey on the nest also tearing off pieces of food (presumably a fish) while in the nest. Going to try to get a photo today.
