Nesting Diaries
On July 4, I'm pretty sure a photo I took shows triplets (two heads and one tail.) I returned yesterday and all were flying! I never saw them all together, so no confirmation as to how many chicks.
I spotted two chicks in the nest today!
One baby briefly popped his head up!
Mom and Dad are either on the nest or sticking close by.
Both birds were busy adding to the nest!
The pair was not there last Wed. but was there on Fri. so estimating arrival last Thursday.
I've seen interlopers try to barge in on a nest but don't know if they can take over. Something to research! Is the resident female incubating yet?
I see a lot of extra birds about the two nests. Can another bird take over a nest?
FYI the nest location on the map was adjusted slightly to match its actual location on Google Maps.
I witnessed the pair getting frisky. Nest seems stable. There seems to be a third bird flying around hassling them
This nest is directly behind the first one about 50' apart. I saw one bird building the nest
AUGUST 28, 2022: No birds in the nest, but a few osprey flying around or chirping in the trees. Pretty sure the parents are gone.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2022: Only one osprey chick observed in the area, and he was definitely from the other nest closest to Sandwich Road.
