Nesting Diaries
Again today, we are not seeing any evidence of rebuilding. This is an active grain mill, so they may have been "discouraged" in some way.
We are not seeing any rebuilding. There are so many areas this pair could have chosen to rebuild, since they had to rebuild in a different spot last year.
Another nest that needs rebuilding, but both osprey were in the area of last seasons nest today.
It's hard to say if there were any fledglings in this nest. There was an osprey on the side of the nest for quite some time, after the incubation period. But as it is so high, we never did see if there was more than one at the nest any given time.
This is the first time that we could actually see an osprey sitting up higher in the nest, off to the side. Hoping for a positive nest this year!
We could see one osprey sitting on the mill near the nest today and what may have been the others' head in the nest. Again, this nest is very high on the mill.
The pair appears to be staying at this nest, after some rebuilding, but it is so high up on the grain mill that we can't see what's going on. We have seen them on it, near it, and around it though.
This pair had a nest on an old pole, no support whatsoever, last season. Unfortunately, they lost it to a high wind and tried, unsuccessfully, at this new location on the grain mill. We just noticed that they are rebuilding this season, on the grain mill.
