Due to having found this nest late, we have been unable to verify that there was a chick or that it fledged.

Lauren S reports: I stopped by my nest last weekend – sat underneath for 10 minutes and had no activity whatsoever. I then biked over to the golf course to see if from that angle. Just as I got there I heard the osprey returning to the nest. I got a quick pic of it before it landed on the nest. So high I can’t see anything but I know she’s there.

This nest is a new one reported in early May. Because of this, we cannot supply the dates for adult arrival, incubation etc. Based on the initial nest report, we are indicating that the nest is active and that there is at least 1 chick. We will adjust that as we can determine how many chicks there are. First flight has not been recorded since if the youngster is flying, he should be big enough to be seen in the nest. We will hold off on that until we can verify it since this would be a fairly early flight.

Lauren S. reports: I located the nest, it’s very high in a pine. Can view from the homeowner’s property directly below, and across a lagoon. I saw no activity but spoke with Marcy, the homeowner, who has seen parents bringing food and can hear hatchlings. She thinks she saw flying lessons but not sure how many babies. Looking at my photos, in the long-range one, nest is located in the third pine from the left. Even zooming in I could not see the osprey. Will keep checking back from both angles.
