Nesting Diaries
A few Osprey perched here but no pair settled this season.
Still vacant. This nest is not active this year.
No activity here except one occasionally perched on the light structure.
The nice, deep nest built last year remains, but I have seen minimal activity this year. The nest is not active unless the pair is very elusive.
Still one perched often at the top of the structure. I haven't seen other activity to confirm if the nest produced a fledgling.
As promised I have a photo of this nest attached. They win the award for best nest. Look at the side walls blocking the sun. I suspect they have a hatchling inside since the nest has continually improved over the past weeks. It is so deep I can't see any activity inside. There was one Osprey on the range light just prior to me taking the photo. The shot was taken from the bike path with a strong zoom lens. I don't like to disturb any nests.
I've seen one or two adults the last few times I walked by this nest. I don't see parenting activity, however the nest has very high walls (one of the best nests around) so maybe I just wasn't seeing them. I'll get a good photo of the nest if the rain ever stops.
lots of activity with both adults at nest, can not confirm eggs or chicks
Nest was vacant the two times I went by it today. Likely a failed nest.
platform in nearby marsh has been replaced by this nest site
Today two were up on the range structure. I haven't witnessed any activity supporting successful egg laying yet except the nice nest they built.
The last few times I went by one has been perched on the range structure. I can't tell if one is in incubation posture inside the nest. The nest wall may be hiding her from my view.
One seen perched on the range light this morning. The nest below is ready but no one sitting in it.
Last weekend this nest was seen totally rebuilt and occupied. The female was seen bringing more nesting material today. Two males are jockeying for territory at this site.
Last year's nest is completely blown away. I haven't seen any osprey perching on the range light structure yet.
I haven't seen activity near this nest lately. A few weeks ago 1 to 2 could be seen hanging out on the range light most days.
I've seen the pair a few times still perching on the range light. No behavior to indicate caring for hatchlings. Male may have moved on now as well.
This pair is often seen perched on the range light. No behavior of supporting nestlings.
Pair perched on the range light above the nest this morning. I haven't see behavior supporting nestlings, but am not by this nest often.
I haven't been by this nest much due to the pandemic. Several times over the last month I have seen one or a pair perched in or on the range marker behaving as confident in there home.
A few squatters have been seen perched on the range light over the past few weeks. Probably nearby young from other nests.
Nest vacant every time I drive by. I did see an osprey on the range light. Maybe a young from a nearby nest resting.
Nest vacant when I drove by ~1700
At ~1300 today this nest was vacant. No sign of any hatchlings. 5 minutes of observation.
Today one adult was seen on tower above nest. No activity in the nest.
This nest is very close to a UD nest right across the street that is occupied and appears successful. Great that the habitat supports such nest density.
I suspect hatching occurred within the week. I can't see inside the nest, but adult behavior is similar to UD-3 which I observe from my office window each day.
