Nesting Diaries
Mollie K. reports:
no activity and no sign of osprey.
Mollie K reports: No activity.
NOTE: Since the pair failed to return and there has been no activity, this nest is being marked inactive for the year.
Mollie K reports: no site of Osprey no change of nest
Mollie K reports: I think I saw Osprey but it was a quick moment. Checked again a couple days after and no sign.
Mollie K reports: no sign and no change to nest
Molly K reports: still no sign of Osprey and no change of nest.
Mollie K reports: Still no sign of Osprey and nothing has changed about nest.
NOTE: Based on reports of no activity since late May, we are assuming that this nest failed for an unknown reason. By mid-July, there should have been evidence of nestlings/fledglings.
Marge I reports: 07/6 and 07/13. No Osprey seen or heard. Nest still intact
Marge I reports: 7481 on 06/22. No birds seen or heard
Marge I reports: Did not see or hear anything. Highly unusual for this nest
Marge I reports: Barely saw top of Osprey’s head. Hunkered down in nest . Did not see or hear second bird. Assuming she is incubating her eggs
Marge I reports: 1 Osprey sitting in nest. Not far down but definitely in the nest. NOTE: Based on this, we will assume that incubation has begun.
Marge I reports: One Osprey sitting on edge of nest
Marge and Dave I report: 2 Osprey. One sitting on edge. Second in and out with sticks etc
Marge I reports:
Good Activity at 7481. At first one Osprey in the edge. A second one flew in and momentarily landed on the back of the first one. Both flew off and a couple minutes later returned with sticks
Marge I reports: Today there was one Osprey on the nest standing right outside of the nest. Could not tell if a second one was inside.
Marge I reports: As of Sunday 03/08 no birds in nest or area. No changes to nest itself.
Marge I reports: Took a ride over yesterday. No new activity. One man said they have seen Osprey flying around.
Marge I reports: Osprey Nest 7481 still empty yesterday. But it was raining. Will check within a week but on a nice day.
Marge I. reports no activity, but the nest looks in good shape.
Marge I reports: Exciting day for me. I FINALLY saw junior! When I got there I saw a bird perched on top of the nest preening. It appeared smaller with mottled feathers. I waited and in a little while one of the parents flew in with a fish. It jumped down and started eating. I am assuming there is one juvenile
Marge I reports: Checked today. Saw the mother sitting. Did not see father or the chick. I am guessing there is just one but still cannot tell from where I can look.
Mary Alice T shared a photo of Mom with wings out to shade the nestling.
Marge I reports: Exciting day. Definitely saw one baby with Mama and Dad flew in dropped a fish and flew out again. NOTE: We will update the data as we can determine if there is another.
Marge I reports: Checked my nest today. Still did not see the babies. She was kind of busy just preening etc. Did not see the male either.
Marge I reports: She was sitting quietly and low in the nest. I could not tell but since it was 11:30 she might have been trying to keep the hatchlings cool. Did not see the male today.
Marge I reports: Today she was very active and her head kept going up and down. NOTE: This probably means the eggs hatched between the 23 and 26.
Marge I reports: Mom was hunkered down in the nest.
Marge reports: Mother on Nest hunkered down Three others all looked like adults flying around. Did not see the male bring a fish There is a great viewing area right by the sign that says 800 -1100 No trees in the way.
Marge and Dave I. report: My husband Dave was able to see one of the birds bring a fish to the other one. Of course it flew off when he got his camera.
Mary Alice T and Marge I. report: Male flying had just dropped off a fish. You can barely see female, but she's there!
NOTE: Since we just found this nest, but Mom appears to be in the nest with eggs, we have recorded incubation on the 11th although we really do not know when it started.
observer Mary Alice T: found this osprey nest and we determined it was not being monitored. Because of this, we have missed some of the dates activity occurred, but now are able to monitor the nest beginning in early April
