Nesting Diaries
No longer there. Tree came down in storm in 2020
Sandy P reports: With a very sad heart, the tree with this nest in it came down from the storm today.
It was a dead tree with a large nest and osprey was sitting in it on 4/11... the top of the tree with the nest is in the lagoon. We saw it at 7 pm and I did not see any ospreys on the ground so hoping they both flew away and survived. Sad. Last year they met and this year they tried to start a family... Hopefully they will find a better tree next time.
Sandy P reports: saw Osprey in nest. Hopefully she is on eggs.
Sandy P reports: Nest 7474-oyster reef golf course. Hard to see this one even with binoculars. Nest appears very deep. Have seen one beside the nest. Will keep monitoring.
Sandy P reports: 2 ospreys in nest
Sandy P reports: Osprey seen, 1/17 and 2/9.
Sandy P reports: saw the Osprey sitting next to the nest.
Note: While we believe there was 1 chick, we can not confirm that it fledged.
Sandy P reports:
nest empty, adults gone since July 7. Next year for them..
Sandy P reports: One adult Osprey in nest. No chick activity
Sandy P reports: 2 adults sitting on tree near the nest. No one in the nest. This was about 7;30 and it was. Lightly raining. I think if there were chicks, moma would be sitting on them for shelter ?...
NOTE: Based on the evidence of Chicks on 5/23 but not on 5/16, we simply listed hatching as 5/23.
Jeffry M reporting for Sandy P: #7474(Oyster Reef / Crepe Myrtle) - see pic All looks well with female on nest feeding chick(s) when I took pic. No idea how many chicks.
Sandy P reports: One adult in nest and one on tree. No signs of chicks yet....
Sandy P reports: Osprey still sitting on nest.
Sandy P reports: Osprey sitting in nest, other flew away. 7 pm
NOTE: We assume by her flat back posture she is sitting on eggs.
This is a newly located, large nest found by observer Sandy P. Sandy reports:
Both Ospreys were in it, but not sitting
