Nesting Diaries
Birds flying around, I think both chicks fledged
can now clearly see two chicks in the nest. there could be a third, but clearly at least two.
nest is active, probably has young
The pair has rebuilt the nest that was removed by the Cell Tower employees in March. The nest is already quite large.
two fledglings on the tower below the nest. a third bird flew when I got there but I don't know if it was a fledgling
Could see three chicks practice flying over the nest
Clearly see two good size nestlings
two chicks clearly visible being fed
at least on youngster visible in the nest
Female feeding chick/chicks. Male nearby on the tower.
Female appears to be incubating
pair working on the nest. An immature eagle got too close and was attacked my the male. The eagle took off
Male at the nest today, being harassed by Fish Crows
Got good views and photos by boat today. Three chicks in the nest with the mother
Still only seeing one chick in the nest
Could see one large chick in the nest. There could be more
Boat trip with NJSEA environmentalists today. Can clearly see two chicks. Possibly a third
looking at my pics I can see at least one chick
Went back to the nest today and the female was there apparently caring for young.
No activity observed today at this nest. It's a difficult nest to observe, but no birds apparent at all
Nest is active but can't yet see how many young.
Osprey on side of nest appearing to feed chick/chicks
nest has survived the windy weather
This nest was removed over the winter but a new nest is being built
The young continue in the nest with the male nearby. I think it is safe to assume that they can fly, just not ready to take off yet. The female seems to have left for the south.
clearly see two large nestlings in the nest today.
Hard to see, but eventually could make out at least two fledglings, good size
Still can't see a chick but the female was on the side of the nest and the male was on the tower. I'm sure that there are young in the nest
Female shading at least one chick, possibly two
Male next to nest, female in nest apparently feeding chicks
There is probably an incubating hen on this high, deep nest that I can't see. The male is always present near by on the tower for at least the last ten days.
Two pair fighting over the nest
An Osprey present and a new nest started. It's quite large already. Last year workers removed the nest, possibly with eggs in it, late in August. I will have to watch more closely this year
no activity at this nest site
I haven't seen any activity at this nest in three visits this week. It is a big nest, up high, but I should see some movement, but nothing. I think the nest may have failed, but won't call it for another week or two.
Could see female incubating
cold, rainy day. I observed the nest from the car for a good while and so no ospreys. I hope the female is incubating and the male was off sheltering somewhere.
the nest is large enough for incubatin and the female may well be. Male has been visible but not the female who wouldn't be if she were low in the nest
the pair continues to build the nest. it's starting to look like a nest. I hope the powers that be leave it alone
both birds working on the nest today; still have a long way to go
The pair is back just starting to rebuild the nest. we'll see if it is allowed to stay
This nest is no longer there. It appears it was removed by the power company. We'll see if the pair tries to rebuild
adult male and one chick at the nest today, chick should fledge soon.
Still only seeing one chick in this nest, but it is a big wide nest. The male brought a fish when I first got there, left and came back with a stick. Ate some of the fish with the chick
possibly two chicks. need some better views once they are a little bigger
could see one small head in the nest today
This nest was reported to Chris Takacs by a birder. Chris informed me. There were Osprey in the area last year, but I couldn't find the nest. There were a pair of birds at the nest and I believe there are chicks but I couldn't see any yet.
