Nesting Diaries
This nest just disappeared, as did the other nest on the bridge this year. Very disappointing!
Using the wildlife area roads, I was able to photograph the side of the nest from afar. Adult still sitting in the nest if you can see her in the photo...
It finally looks like an adult has settled in the nest. Difficult to photograph while driving under the nest on the bridge!
Nest building is resumed and looks better than the previous nest started this year. Both adults still present.
A lot of the nest got blown away in the strong winds last night. ☹️
Nest building has begun, and two adults seen consistently on bridge near nest. Same nest location as last year!
Saw two adults at the nest site beginning to recreate a nest today! Last year’s nest was blown away by the tornados that passed through in August 2020.
First sighting of one adult at last year’s nest site!!
This was the last day we saw any of the osprey. Hopefully they will return next year!
After the storm/tornado on Tuesday morning, we checked the nest and even though it had been windswept away, both chicks were resting on top of the bridge where the nest used to be, unharmed.
After several good views driving under the bridge, I confirm two chicks (now probably fledged) in this nest!
Can't quite see any chicks, but parents definitely tending to something in the nest!
One adult observed standing on side of next bending down into nest. Assume at least one chick!
Still seated on nest! Both parents seen; one on nest the other perched on bridge.
This past week, several times I've seen one adult sitting on the nest, while the other circled in the area. I assume eggs are in the nest, but am not able to peer inside to confirm!
Observed active mating at the nest as I passed on the bridge today!
Pair just spotted on top of bridge today! Saw single adult for the past couple of days flying and occasionally perching on top of bridge.
Saw a lone osprey on the nest today as well as last Thursday 09/05/19. Too bad he/she didn’t have a name tag on since I don’t know if he/she was from this nest or just passing through.
This was the first day I didn't see our friend on the bridge! I haven't seen him/her since. Happy Migration osprey family!
Only one bird remaining at the nest for the past several days.
Looking at chicks grow every day I drive under the bridge!
Adult on rafters of bridge observing chicks in nest.
Definitely 2 chicks now that they are bigger and can see them more clearly!
Confirmed at least one chick today! Saw adult and chick as I passed under their nest today!
Adult no longer sitting on nest, but on the side of nest. Can't see any young inside the nest due to angle.
One adult sitting on nest consistently and second adult seen carrying fish over water.
Pigeons enjoy hanging out near the nest, but confirmed one adult on nest today and other adult on top of bridge looking around.
Since I cross this bridge often, I look for the pair and usually see at least one on or near nest. One adult has been seen consistently on the nest over the past few days!
Definitely working on the nest and one adult often seen sitting inside.
Adult seen flying with fish over bridge area!
One adult seen in nest; nest is larger than initial sighting in early April.
Two adults seen on sparse nest on bridge top! They're back! YAY!
This was the last time I saw the adults and juvenile. Happy Travels ospreys!
One chick clearly visible in nest (see photo!) I pass this nest most days and a parent is usually on the nest with the chick.
Two birds at the nest all week - maybe chicks??
I pass this nest just about every day. Most days there is one adult sitting on the nest.
Observed nest building by adult osprey on top of Summit Bridge!
