Nesting Diaries
Welcome surprise to see the Ospreys have built another nest directly across the street from the previous nest. Will continue to monitor to confirm whether the male is the same leg banded Papa from last year.
This nest was removed within the last week or two. No sign of an Osprey nest on the utility pole remains at this location.
Drove by this morning, after last night's nasty storm. I did not see any birds in the nest, but I did catch a Fledgling sitting on a telephone pole nearby with his own fish! Picture uploaded. Dark and overcast morning, tough to see but clearly this is one of the fledglings from this nest. Will stop by later when the sun comes out to observe further. Fledgling with his own fish is an exciting thing to see!~
Two large nestlings eating while one parent observes from a nearby tree and the other parent was seen chasing an interloper above the nest. Pictures uploaded. In one you can see an adult looking up with interest as the other parent is chasing another Osprey vigorously directly overhead. Quite the airshow.
This evening observed two very healthy nestlings looking like they are ready to fly any moment now. Very hot day, and both were trying to stay cool while the female was standing watch in a high tree nearby. Did not observe the male in the area. Picture uploaded.
