Nesting Diaries
called again today, same day a year later, one fledgling flew into the marsh grass and remained there all day, i was able to flush the bird into a strong flight but it once again flew to the spartina grass farther from nest site, so i approached again and it flew to a tree and then finally fought the strong headwind and landed into the nest yay! again neighbors will observe that its flying well this coming week, other 2 fledglings flew about week and half before this runt
last season one of 2 chicks fell out of nest at 7 weeks old. I was called by TriState to capture, chick was ok and was placed back into nest. homeowners across from nest are watching the nest intently this season!

Birds were mating when we observed nest at Noon.
No birds seen at nest, although a nest was built this year on the platform. Good to see this new platform is apparently attracting some osprey.
This nice platform, built in 2015, is only used by osprey resting and eating fish. I believe there is not enough branches on the platform to entice a couple of birds to make it their nest.
Single osprey seen eating fish.
Still no nesting material being built on this platform. Have seen it used by an occasional "resting" osprey but not "nesting."
This platform was built in 2/2015 by a Coveside resident. During installation, some nesting material was attached to platform. The platform was not used for nesting in 2015. Apparently, winds have blown most of this initial nesting material off the platform. There have been no observations of osprey using the platform.
