The tree is mostly dead and I would describe it as a snag. Property owners report the nest has raised 3 osprey chicks in the past!

3/24/12 The egg that was in the nest when we put the chick that had survived back hatched. That osprey chick fell out on 3/23 and had a scissor beak. Wildlife veternarians and rehabbers tried to save the chick but it died on its own Saturday night. Additional monitoring is needed.

My friend Wendy took the photo. There were 2 babies and 1 egg in the nest on 3/13, but 2 chicks fell out. One chick perished and the other was rescued and returned to the nest on 3/15/12. The effort took 26 people and a truck that costs $14,000 per month. It is a very tall tree. I would estimate about 90 feet. This area of Florida is stunning.
