Male and Female Osprey observed perched together on Bldg 7 chimney
Observed female perched beside nest. Did not see or hear chick. Assume chick has died. Successful nest building, egg laying and hatch were very late in the 2017 season.
C Jacobson reported to me that she saw female on nest on 8/16. Chick was screaming. Female was looking around, calling softly (for her mate?). No sighting of male. Female flew off, chick went silent.

Incubating female observed
Pair alternating nests attempts between the 2 chimneys on Building 6. Three Nests fell apart due to weather (wind) and due to human-installed chimney top devices impeding nest building. Fourth nest attempt was successful.

Nest building continues. Nest now covers half of the chimney top
Observed nest building - one osprey flew off the chimney top and returned at 3-5 minute intervals with a stick for the new nest. Previous year's nest was removed from the chimney.
Never have seen feeding behavior

Female sitting up to side of nest. No bobbing observed (as if feeding).
Female sitting up, stretched wings. Male came to visit, looked in the nest, flew off.
Female sitting up in nest. Then perched on edge of nest, stretching. Turned head to look around.
What is this behavior: flutters tongue with mouth open (but not calling)?
