Nesting Diaries
10:52 AM: THREE Ospreys?! I observed, as I was driving north on Kempsville. Two of the Ospreys were flying towards me from the cell tower. The third Osprey was flying above the cell tower.
10:52 AM I observed as I was exiting I-264E onto Newtown. One Osprey flapping its wings on top of the cell tower, the other flying overhead.
3:30 PM - Watched Osprey circling above cell tower and I-64. Cell tower has branches - either leftover, but more likely the start of this year’s nest. Large branches. 51°F and sunny.
Osprey appear to be incubating. Crows are pestering them over and over. Both male and female at nest.
I believe this is the Osprey pair that have been displaced from their long time nest on cell tower nest #4083 on Business Park half mile east along I-264 and Greenwich Rd. That nest is now occupied by a pair of bald eagles and is now BE nest VB1403
