Nesting Diaries

This is my first visit to the nest for 2016. I observed the female sitting in the nest and the male providing food. I don't know when they actually arrived and I can't see in the nest so I don't know how many chicks are present.

I have visited the nest the past two evenings and there is no activity, just one of the birds sitting on a perch. I can only assume they fledged.

The nest has survived the June 23rd and July 9th storms. The adults were sitting in the nest when I arrived and the female was feeding the chicks. I am still unable to see the chicks due the distance and the size of the chicks, but they are still alive and well. Hope they will be large enough in a few weeks to be able to give a count.

Visited the nest on 4/18/2015 and found that there were two Osprey in residence. Don't know what day they arrived as I was last at the nest on 4/8/2015 and it was empty. There are several other nests along Great Bay Boulevard and it appeared that the Ospreys were jockeying for position or territory. The male seemed to be chasing other potential suitors from his nest area. I don't know what more detail I can provide about the eggs and hatching until they are large enough to sit up in the nest. I only have vision to the nest from the ground and won't see much incubation activities.

Visited the nest for the past three weeks without observing any evidence of Osprey arrival.

Not sure if any young were produced at this nest, but today I saw three birds (two adults and one juvie) on the nest platform.
