Nesting Diaries
The nest site was destroyed by construction of a new warehouse.
This nest no longer exists. The tall light structure it was built on has been removed.
21 November 2018 Found utility pole that supported this nest was removed.
Consistently seeing one usually two osprey on the nest.
The C.G. ATON had been wiped clean of all nest material sometime since last July, but yesterday 2 ospreys showed on on the tower for the first time this year.
Today, one day later, nest material sticks are now showing on the tower platform. they weren't there yesterday.
This isn't a nest yet, but it sure is a good start!
No bird activity observed.
Pictures #6 and #9 are not pictures of nest 4407, and should be deleted from the site.
Found one osprey on the nest in spite of steel mill demolition taking place in the immediate area.
Nest Lat/Lon updated - the old position was off by 110 yards. In March 2017, this nest was unoccupied.
Nest was observed on 2/13/17, 2/15/17, 2/18/17, 2/23/17 and 3/2/17 looking for eagle activity. No eagles or ospreys were observed in the area on any of those days.
Resident osprey have migrated out. Found a bald eagle on the nest for one day.
Found a bald eagle on the osprey nest, stayed in the area for two to three days.
In 2005 nest was on an abandoned crane. In 2009 Gerdeau Ameristeel erected a platform & relocated the nest. In 2012 the osprey built a nest on a light tower.
Another good year - 2 fledgings to report
Forgot to provide updates. Chicks hung out visiting nest in August. Saw an adult there the first week of September. Nest is now vacant.

I've been watching this nest everyday on my commute on NJ Transit train! Dad is a good fisherman...chicks looking good. They have been flapping their wings getting ready to fledge.
