Nesting Diaries
The original nest was removed by Dominion Energy in 2020 in order to replace the power pole structure. The pair was observed 4.4.21 bringing in nest material and also mating nearby.

08/24/2014 - The female fledgling still refuses to leave. Though she is able to fly she is still food begging at the nest. As my photo shows her crop is full. An adult is also present near the nest. The sibling left over a month ago.
One of the juveniles , even though fledged, refuses to leave. She just sits on the nest loudly begging for food. The adult female is still also present sitting in a nearby tree. Photo of chick on side of nest.
One female juvie on nest. It flew while I was there. Think it had already fledged.
Observed male bring in fish to nest. Then able to observe female feeding 2 apparently healthy chicks. First time I was able to determine if there were young in the nest due to the height of the tower.
Osprey in nest. Male perched in trees at clubhouse.
Female laying in nest. Male brought fish. Female took fish and flew to nearby tree. Male laid in nest until her return.
Osprey on this nest have been hard at work rebuilding. Both bringing sticks to nest this morning.
Nest construction update. The male continues to bring building materials to the nest. See photos.
Both osprey returned to this nest location on March 9, 2014. The 2013 nest was completely destroyed in early March by strong winds, so this osprey pair is having to start rebuilding their nest from scratch.
Both chicks out. Perched in nearby trees begging for food.
Observed a chick flying. One chick in the nest.
Cannot confirm eggs/chicks in nest. Very high up. Female came off nest on my approach. Returned with in 3 minutes.
Female in the nest. Male generally in tree by Honey Bee Clubhouse. The male ate fish head and brought remainder to nesting female.

Male & Female perched one tower down from nest. Adult Bald Eagle fly over. Lots of vocalizing but BE departs abruptly.
Female in nest. Male in tree eating fish. Female departs, returns with stick.
Both Osprey perched in nearby tree at time of my visit. Stayed in position for at least 30 minutes, then I left.
3/12/12
Female remained in nest. Male brought in more nesting material and chased off numerous crows.
Adult observed inspecting nest on 3.7.12.
Adult observed bring stick to nest on 3.9.12.
Adult observed landing in nest on 3.10.12.
2 adults observed this afternoon (3.10.12). One continually breaking off sticks and branches of nearby trees and delivering them to the nest.
