3 healthy large chicks observed feeding today.

06/18/2022 by Ken O
Happy to report there are 3 large and healthy chicks confirmed in this nest. Both parents look great. Pics uploaded.

06/10/2022 by Ken O
Uploaded picture of Mom at this nest with one of the chicks. Seems to be thriving...

06/04/2022 by Ken O
Observed both adults feeding 2 chicks today. Nest right next door on Hazen also has 2 chicks. Unfortunately nest farther east on Hazen has failed.

07/19/2021 by Ken O
Confirmed, one fledgling. Watched as it went from the perch to a nearby pole. Wow! Will upload pics later. Still only one chick observed at this nest.

07/07/2021 by Ken O
One very large chick observed flexing wings. Seems there is only one nestling. Pictures uploaded.

05/31/2021 by Ken O
Watched this morning as the female was feeding one or more hatchlings. Couldn't see the hatchling (s) but did observe the careful feeding behavior of Mom while Dad watched closely from the perch. Pics to follow.

03/31/2021 by Ken O
Male and Female seen on the nest. 3/31/21. No vacancies anywhere nearby now. Amazing.

08/25/2020 by Ken O
This morning, all 3 fledglings were calling to be fed. Appears 2 female fledglings and one male. The 2 females were on the nest and the male was on a nearby utility pole. At one point, both female fledges took off and chased each other around - it seemed like a fight for dominance. When the fish arrived, one female got it and the other looked not too happy. Pic uploaded. I believe DAD delivered the bunker.

All three nestlings are flexing their wings and getting ready to fledge. This shot was taken at sunset on a beautiful summer evening. They were just finishing up dinner at the time.

07/11/2020 by Ken O
The day after tropical storm "Fay" passed thru the area, all three nestlings are present and accounted for. Lots of wing flexing, would expect fledging any day now. Pic uploaded.

06/30/2020 by Ken O
3 big and healthy chicks observed in the nest this morning, All flexing their wings and preening. Growing so quickly!

05/23/2020 by Ken O
Male and Female are doing their nest duties. They were both busy today arranging and one of them seemed to be incubating. All looks good here as of today.

03/21/2020 by Ken O
3/21/2020 Nest occupied and now other Hazen nest is occupied. Trying to figure out who is where, but both have male and female Ospreys so - time will tell.

03/18/2020 by Ken O
The male from the other nest on Hazen has been without a mate there since his arrival. Today, I observed him in this nest with the un-paired female. They were preening and mating. He left and came back with a large piece of rope for nesting material. I think we have a new couple in this nest now. Male has a silver federal band that ends in "086." Glad to see they mated and seem to have a good bond.

03/15/2020 by Ken O
Female on the nest. No mate observed as yet.

07/16/2019 by Ken O
7/16/19 Early morning check on the 3 chicks and 2 parents. All present and accounted for. Pic uploaded in which the MOM and 3 chicks are all seen. Dad had just departed for a nearby perch. Cant stick around to watch the aviating today. It won't be long before they are all fledged! :-)

07/15/2019 by Ken O
Big day as #1 of 3 chicks took his first flight today! He sat at the top of one of the power poles by the track from early morning until almost noontime until Dad buzzed him and coaxed him back to the nest. At one point he left and came back to this particular perch. Wow! First flight! 2 pics uploaded. One of chick #2 getting ready to fly and the second is DAD buzzing #1 at the top of the pole. Both parents wanted him back in the nest and were calling and buzzing. Amazing.

Three nice size chicks - great pics Ken

06/26/2019 by Ken O
3 Nestlings are growing very quickly. One was spotted stretching her new wings. Pic uploaded. Clearly she needs to fill out prior to first flight.

06/20/2019 by Ken O
3 healthy chicks observed today. Both parents doing their thing. Dad brought a fish and Mom did some feeding. All is well here today. Pic uploaded

Mating and nest tweaking in full swing - have to keep up with the neighbors!

03/24/2019 by Ken O
Occupied as of 3/24/19! Pic uploaded.

08/08/2018 by Ken O
3 big juveniles spotted today, very actively flying around the area and alternately landing on Dad's perch at the nest just west of their natal nest. Did not see either adult today, but didn't have much time to observe. All look healthy.

07/29/2018 by Ken O
This morning, all 3 chicks were flying sorties around the local area and returning to the nest. Male was in his usual spot on the perch of the nest next door which has no base so is not occupied. Female was on a nearby telephone pole. Male left and came back with a fish that he kept entirely to himself. Chicks looked like they were eating when I arrived this morning. So we have 3 fledglings here - what a success this year!

07/23/2018 by Ken O
I watched with joy and amazement this morning as one of the three nestlings took flight on two separate sorties. First one was happening as I arrived in the area, and the Fledgie landed on the east perch. Second flight that I observed was a nice takeoff followed by a low pass over the trees (a little too low) and then a climbing counterclockwise circle around the nest for 2 full circuits, then approached and landed on the east perch. The other two were motivated to do some jumping and hovering of their own, but did not fly yet. Male was observing from a perch about 50 yards north. Wow. Pictures uploaded of the flights.

07/22/2018 by Ken O
Morning after the big storm on 7/21 overnight to 7/22. I got lucky as the male had just arrived with breakfast. Mom and 3 large nestlings present and accounted for. Despite the wind and drizzle this morning, once again the largest nestling was getting some airtime - hovering about 2 feet above the nest. Picture uploaded of DAD doing a fish flyby. I observed the male bringing the fish to his post while it flopped around. A few minutes later he started preparing the fish and went back to deliver it to the waiting hungry family.

07/20/2018 by Ken O
3 Large and getting larger - chicks are still on the nest today. Mom standing by and Dad perched on an old nest about 50 yards away that does not have a floor anymore. I observed one nestling that got about 2-3 feet above the nest in a hover while practicing. The others took turns flapping as well. Pictures uploaded.

07/15/2018 by Ken O
This morning during a heavy thunderstorm I was in the area and stopped by to see how they were doing in the storm. 3 very large and healthy nestlings were doing some serious wing exercising while Mom watched from a perch. Male not seen in the area. All three were flapping vigorously, with one observed to leave the nest to about perhaps a foot above then hovered and touched back down in the nest. Photos uploaded.

3 Nestlings being fed by one parent this morning shortly after sunrise. All looking healthy. Picture uploaded.

06/25/2018 by Ken O
Observed 2 parents and 3 nestlings today feasting on a fresh fish. Picture uploaded. 3 healthy looking heads in this picture. First time observing this one.

07/06/2016 by Thumpersma
Single adult standing in nest. Single chick head pops up to look around and slumps back again.

04/13/2016 by Thumpersma
Mating observed in nest. 12:03pm

03/30/2016 by Thumpersma
Male observed eating fish on adjacent bare tree. Female observed eating fish on perch of osprey pole. No nesting activity observed. 3:20pm

09/18/2015 by Thumpersma
Unknown if chick fledged. Nest was small and underdeveloped. No activity when viewed today.

07/27/2015 by Thumpersma
There's a baby in the nest! Much smaller than other chicks this year. Perhaps born later. Nest is small and not well developed. 4:55pm

07/23/2015 by Thumpersma
Observed adult on perch and second adult sitting low in nest. Unsure if second adult was sheltering chicks or still sitting on eggs.

07/12/2015 by AmyOla
Observed one small chick. First year for this nest I think.

05/29/2015 by Thumpersma
Small nest. Osprey sitting on perch.
