Nesting Diaries
2 birds on the platform the morning of 4/10, but only one that afternoon and again one 4/11 morning. Matches last year's adult arrival.
Observed one bird on the nest platform.
Got a better view yesterday and confirmed at least 2 chicks. Both are pretty good size.
While mama bird is still blocking most of mt view, I was able to see at least 1 chick in the nest. Hoping to find a different spot to observe the nest.
Observed the female osprey standing on the side of the nest. She is in my direct line of sight blocking any chance of seeing if there's a chick or two.
For the past month I have only observed the female sitting down in the nest. Today was the first time I've seen both birds at the nest stand.
Observed both male and female at the nest on 4/10 and today.
One osprey (the male I believe) sitting on the nest platform waiting for his mate.
Must have a new nesting pair here since it was productive in the past. Will record as active and housekeeping (no young).
For nearly a month, I have only seen the 1 osprey (presumably the female) at this platform. Today I finally saw a second bird and may have actually witnessed them copulating.
I had witnessed a bird at this platform on the morning of 3/17, but did not see it that afternoon or the next day. Again, a bird at the platform on 3/28 but gone again. On 4/3, I started to see a bird each morning and afternoon, but no mate yet.
Both birds seemed to be hunkered down in the nest. Probably just trying to stay warm.
First time I've seen 2 birds at this nest
Observed one bird perching on this nest.
I have observed the female(I assume) sitting down in the nest for the last 4 days. Occasionally, a second bird is present.
Since seeing 2 birds at this nest on 4/14, I've yet to see more than 1 since, and frequently none at all.
Finally !! Observed 2 adults on the platform this afternoon. I had seen a single bird on 3/30 and again the next morning of 3/31, then nothing since.
Thanks for the report, Ollie! There were actually two young produced at this nest this year.
Finally !!! I was beginning to wonder if this nest was a failure. The past week I've noticed both adult birds at the nest with the female standing on the side of the nest, but no sign of chicks. Today I was able to see one chick. There may be more, but tough to see from where I can observe this nest.
Observed osprey sitting down in the nest, possibly sitting on eggs.
Osprey spotted on the nest platform.
Did not see any young birds on this nest.
