Nesting Diaries

The pair were in the nest, with the male eating a tiny Stripped Bass, and the female trying to get her share.

The osprey refused to be relocated. When the female arrived the pair worked together and rebuilt their nest in this chimney. The pipes that were placed into the chimney as a deterrent were pushed apart and used as a support for the larger branches. On 4/23/14 the nest was occupied and I presume eggs are present.

We have been watching this nest in the Chimney for over 10 years. When checking the nest around March 20th we were very upset to see it had been totally removed from the chimney of the vacant building. Several days latter the male osprey returned and is attempting to reconstruct his nest. Have not seen the mate yet. Very sad.
