Osprey Nest Platform
This is a long standing nest of many years. It's on a platform put up to stop the pair from nesting on a pole. They put an orange highway cone on the pole and erected the nest next to it. There is a large tidal river about a quarter mile from the nest.

Adult still apparently incubating on 3/15 and 3/22. Saw both adults at nest, perhaps changing places 3/25.

3/26. Also noticed a new nest being started about a half mile from the original nest on top of an electric pole with a different adult in it. I don't see how the nest will ever be big enough to use though--there are no cross pieces on this pole.

I'm not sure of the actual arrival date, but at noon on 2/16/12 an adult was observed lying in the nest. Later that day an adult was observed standing on the platform.
