Nesting Diaries

11 April 2012 - birds are very attentive to the nest and are more settled, even when working boats are nearby. At least 1 adult bird remains on nest most of the time - speculate that they have laid at least 1 egg.

26 Mar 2012 - finally, birds are beginning some nest building and sitting on nest. The clamming boat(s) that have been heavily working the area very close to the nest for the past week have moved off a bit. That may have been what was disturbing them.

22 Mar 2012 - birds only land on nest and stay for very brief times (2 to 6 minutes). There doesn't appear to be any nest building activity, despite breeding behavior seen on 18 Mar 2012. (Could there be something wrong with the platform - loose, bee or wasp nests, other problems?)

Breeding activity 18 Mar 2012. No birds seen on 19 Mar 2012.
