This platform was installed by Bob Brophy, Essex resident, in the 1980s and was the first known active OSPR nest in Essex County in the mid 1980s. In the early years Bob thought productivity was low due to Great-horned owl predation on chicks but eventually the nest produced fledglings and certainly contributed to the beginning of the recovery of OSPR in the Great Marsh.
