Located on the shoreline just past the Wilna tract of RRVNWR. Nest was occupied but not active, with two mature birds present and no incubation or eggs.
Nest is located on a low nesting platform found just past the Naylor's Beach bridge over the mouth of Cat Point Creek. Two mature birds present with one incubating in 2013.
Nest was located on abandoned pilings located close to the bridge in Tappahannock. Birds behavior suggested nestlings present in 2013 but could not get close enough because of submerged hazards.
This is a platform nest just off shore from houses in the village of Sharps, Virginia, which is in the Northern Neck. Sharps once served as a steamboat landing.
Near brown boat house. This a long-term nest that we have watched since the early 2000s. They have mated every year and produced offspring all but one year.
