Each year the ospreys shift the telephone pole they nest on. Last year they tried to build a nest immediately across the road from my driveway right beside the substation driveway but the hydro guys took it down because it was a functioning hydro pole.

this nest is located on a high light pole in the centre of a sports field park (soccer, football, etc). The nest has been there for several years and is active every year. Usually, 2-3 fledglings survive each year. The park is very busy during the spring, summer and fall but this does not seem to deter the Osprey family.

In the Piankatank River off Harcum Rd., bottom of the hill at Bland's Wharf (around the corner from the public boat landing at Deep Pt.) The nest sits on an osprey platform duck blind and they nest on it (or the duck platform next to it) every year and I think fairly successfully. We are also now seeing a pair of bald eagles fly over the house regularly. We know it's at least two because we saw them fly together one time. Not sure where the nest is though.

This nest and nest platform has been here for ten years or so, as of 2012. A pair previously nested quite nearby on an old duck blind that finally fell down completely in a hurricane; there has been a pair in the vicinity for at least 15 years. Ospreys have successfully raised babies here at least most years since the platform was built.
