Nesting Diaries

4/18/12 - No new activity. Female (?) sitting in a tree guarding the nest, male likely off hunting. It was raining and chilly, so it seems unlikely that there are eggs in the nest as of yet.

4/12/12 - Pair first observed. Female initially in the nest, but flew down to perch nearby. Was harassed by a red-winged blackbird. Male also briefly landed in the nest, but soon left to join the female, landing briefly on her back before perching next to her (probably a copulation attempt). He was also harassed by the same blackbird. It seems doubtful that there are eggs yet, as neither pair provided the nest with much attention. Nest already appears to be completed.
