Nesting Diaries
Could This Be Patience and Pluck!!!????
On 3/25/23 a pair were observed in the same tree where the nest was lost in a storm in 2022.
Hoping the pair build on a strong limb this year❤️.
There were two males observed with one female in the Oak tree the same hour on 3/25/23.
Earlier in the week, I observed one male on the cut down nest tree on Weems the week of March 19, 2023. So happy the female is now here on the 25th!
Babies were hatched the weekend of May 28!!!! Lots of peeping then!
Will not know the number because nest is too high in oak tree.
Tried today to observe any little head with my binoculars but saw none. Tried to see a parent from three different streets but saw none. High winds two days ago and hope all is well. I think I could hear babies squawking today 😊
Observed Patience sitting on nest this morning. Pluck landed on a limb and she called to him several times but he preened himself and never went to nest while I was there.

Finally decided on names for the pair!
Patience and Pluck.
These two persevered, despite losing their documented nest of 7 years!
Their new nest is quite large and very high up in a very old Oak tree. May be the highest nest in Colonial Beach!
Using binoculars, saw females “necklace”. She has been staying with nest, when I observe, for approx. a week!
Believed to be pair from nest 8577, which was cut down early 2022. Pair returned and found nest cut down and tried to build on a 20ft tall stump. In early April nest building began in a nearby tree.
