Nesting Diaries
Looks like there maybe eggs, there always seems to be one bird at the nest and the back feathers are sticking higher up, it looks like the bird is sitting on something,
Today, it looks like maybe eggs could be present, there seemed to be one bird on the nest all day, I will double check Tuesday to see in fact if this is the case.
8:00 PM. Birds have been active, nest looks a lot bigger, been busy with work so have not had a chance to observe much, but the nest is looking good, hopefully will see some eggs soon.,
10:09 AM. The birds are back, I spotted the pair in the nest that looks to be repaired, it's about the same size as it was before the wind yesterday. Glad I caught a glimpse of them this morning!
12:30 PM. Noticed lots of activity this AM, both birds seem to still be building the nest, it's getting alot bigger. No more sexy time observed, will be hard to see eggs since the nest is at eye level from the 3rd floor room I am staying in, sometimes the pair looks to be just hanging out, resting.
3:30 PM. Looks like part of the nest may have been blown off the chimney. There are some large sticks on the roof and the left-hand side of the nest looks smaller. I have not seen the pair of Osprey in a while now, will keep checking, hopefully they have not abandoned the nest.
9:32 AM. Observed the two Osprey in the nest this AM, one looked to be standing on the other, a little sexy time? I think so...
10:27 AM. Definitely looks like some mating activity is going on, just observed the female (smaller of the pair) in the nest and the larger male flew into the nest and was standing on her back for a minute or so and then flew off.
2:30 PM I noticed both birds in the nest, the male (larger one) flew to a nearby tree, the female (smaller one) followed about 15 seconds later to the same tree, she flew off about 30 secs later and did a big circle, flew past the nest and then landed by the male again and they both perched there for a long time (I had to go back to work.)
Today I noticed the nest for the first time, saw two large Osprey building and hanging out in the nest, a few times there was a 3rd and a 4th Osprey flying by and one seemed to get agitated, he/she flew high up, made a lot of loud chirps and then would stay in one place hovering, this repeated for several times for a while.
