6:35 AM For a first since the 6/20 loss of most of her nest, adult female is perched in nest, instead of beside it - AND a second adult Osprey is with her! (He’s back!) Rebuilding of nest appears to have occurred, as there are new castoffs on pavement under nest.
Female osprey perched beside remains of nest (on top of cell tower). Top half of nest was strewn across parking lot - presumably from Thursday's 5:30pm short wind/rain storm. Uploading three photos, including one of her looking down at almost half of her nest on the pavement. No sign of male osprey or chicks. Today: 71°F, 72% humidity, wind W at 3mph
2:20 PM Adult in nest, and vocalizing. Large quantity of green plastic netting at top of nest's stack. The next day I observed green plastic netting topping another nest: http://www.osprey-watch.org/nests/3850
81°F.
11:32 AM - from Interstate 64, I saw Osprey in this nest. Exited freeway, and parked beside nest. Photoed head of bird sitting down inside nest. Large branches scattered under nest.
6:20am: Both adults in nest. Shortly after I arrived, one or two ospreys flew down to water. Moments later it returned, broke off branch from top of parking lot tree and delivered it to the nest. 67°F, cloudy and 10 minutes before sunrise.
5:33pm: both adults in nest together. One left and returned with branch/nesting material. Two large branches on the ground under the nest. -Rejects! 70 degrees F and overcast.
