Palmetto Bay Marina Village
Nest Location Description:
Right before you enter Palmetto Bay Marina, there is an apartment complex on the left called Palmetto Bay Marina Village. It is before you get to Sunrise Cafe. Enter the property and you will pass two lagoons; one on the left and one on the right. After you pass the two lagoons, take a left and you will come to a dead-end, where there is a tennis court. I have never seen anyone use this court. Also, no apartments around to bother people. It is on the other side of the tennis court but you can best see from the parking area.

Marge I reports: Exciting day for me. I FINALLY saw junior! When I got there I saw a bird perched on top of the nest preening. It appeared smaller with mottled feathers. I waited and in a little while one of the parents flew in with a fish. It jumped down and started eating. I am assuming there is one juvenile
Marge I reports: Checked today. Saw the mother sitting. Did not see father or the chick. I am guessing there is just one but still cannot tell from where I can look.
Mary Alice T shared a photo of Mom with wings out to shade the nestling.
Marge I reports: Exciting day. Definitely saw one baby with Mama and Dad flew in dropped a fish and flew out again. NOTE: We will update the data as we can determine if there is another.
Marge I reports: Checked my nest today. Still did not see the babies. She was kind of busy just preening etc. Did not see the male either.
Marge I reports: She was sitting quietly and low in the nest. I could not tell but since it was 11:30 she might have been trying to keep the hatchlings cool. Did not see the male today.
Marge I reports: Today she was very active and her head kept going up and down. NOTE: This probably means the eggs hatched between the 23 and 26.
Marge I reports: Mom was hunkered down in the nest.
Marge reports: Mother on Nest hunkered down Three others all looked like adults flying around. Did not see the male bring a fish There is a great viewing area right by the sign that says 800 -1100 No trees in the way.
Marge and Dave I. report: My husband Dave was able to see one of the birds bring a fish to the other one. Of course it flew off when he got his camera.
Mary Alice T and Marge I. report: Male flying had just dropped off a fish. You can barely see female, but she's there! NOTE: Since we just found this nest, but Mom appears to be in the nest with eggs, we have recorded incubation on the 11th although we really do not know when it started.
observer Mary Alice T: found this osprey nest and we determined it was not being monitored. Because of this, we have missed some of the dates activity occurred, but now are able to monitor the nest beginning in early April
