Nesting Diaries
Dominion energy emptied and removed the dish with the nest from the power pole and replaced the same dish on a lower pole. The next day the two Ospreys began rebuilding their nest. Photos 3 & 4 are of the new nest.
The eggs on our dock turned out to be clapper rail eggs. We have noted three Osprey on the nest.
The osprey laid three more eggs. Vultures returned and yesterday we found 3 broken eggs on the dock. The ospreys are still sitting on the nest.
Three vultures were seen near the nest for a couple of days. On April 4 we found one egg shell on the dock below the nest and a second one on April 5.
Osprey are no longer present. We have not seen or heard them for two days.
Four Osprey were observed flying as a group. Two were a bit smaller
Three Eagles were seen flying around the nest for about 30 minutes while the parents were away but they did not bother the nest.
