09/02/2019 by baygirl
one juvie in snag tree and one adult in far pine

08/29/2019 by baygirl
all 3 flying by the 26th of august, they look great and still seeing momma drop off fish. i am unable to change the nest data with the renesting so i doubt these 3 will be counted.

08/22/2019 by baygirl
chicks are large and I expect at least one or 2 to fledge before Sept. 1st.

07/30/2019 by baygirl
3 growing chicks continue to thrive

07/26/2019 by baygirl
I am not able to change the nest failure data and then add all the renest data for this nest. however the renest produced 3 chicks and as of today they all look very healthy and approx between 4-5 weeks of age

06/30/2019 by baygirl
female on nest this evening, she was hunched, not flat, looked to be shading and very fussy down in the nest and under her chest area, did not see adult male but i suspect at least one hatchling from the renesting

06/28/2019 by baygirl
pair still incubating but if this re-nest is successful then i expect chicks very soon

05/30/2019 by baygirl
pair has decided to renest, I am guessing on or around May 20th. today one deep in nest, did not see mate

05/06/2019 by baygirl
both at nest today, male bringing in nest material, female quite vocal to him, looks like they like their new home!

05/03/2019 by baygirl
new platform placed in nearby Bay Colony Marina marsh today, both osprey on the new platform within less than 30 minutes! pair had started a new frustration nest in another snag close to the marina ramp but once the new platform was ready they flew over it a few times and quickly claimed it as their own! i observed nest building and copulating.

nest blew down in storm

Both ospreys visible by nest. Birdfeeding station placed near snag has been removed.

04/18/2019 by gypsymom3
One incubating in nest. Mate perched in tree nearby. Birdfeeding station has been placed on property not far from snag.

04/15/2019 by baygirl
heavy rains last night, 40 mph NW wind gusts though-out the day today, reports of many snag nests down in Delaware, so far this nest is holding and snag is standing

04/13/2019 by baygirl
one deep in nest incubating today, did not see mate. incubating osprey let out a warning call when man approached very near to snag. nest location is extremely close to human activity. plans are to attempt to relocate this pair to a new platform for 2020. this may be difficult unless snag comes down.

Ospreys continue to build nest. One osprey leaves nest frequently while the other remains on nest. It would be great to have a platform placed in the community. I would be happy to help since I live in the community that owns the marsh.

04/01/2019 by baygirl
osprey pair at snag building up the nest however the snag is rotting and just hope it can hold a nest thru the entire season. snag nest is very close to a home. nearby marsh that is suitable for a nest platform is owned by a different community and I have not yet been given permission to place a tall safe nesting platform. hoping to do so in the future.

Osprey couple preparing nest in snag. Good to see their return.

03/27/2019 by gypsymom3
Osprey on nest and flying around. Have seen another osprey flying nearby and perched on tree very close to marina. Heard osprey on nest calling out.

03/20/2019 by baygirl
one osprey off and on the nest and flying around with a fish before eating it on the lobloly pine near the snag, then a mature bald eagle chased the osprey and when the osprey dropped the fish the eagle couldnt find it in the marsh, how many times have i seen this, robbing peter to feed no one.

one visitor early this morning

09/21/2018 by baygirl
this nest had 4 chicks, 2 were considered "runts", the first 2 larger chicks fledged and then knocked one runt out of the nest on 7-25-18, i was called by tristate bird rescue to retrieve it, i found it in the marsh, it was then placed in a new nest at Cliffs Island with one other similarly aged chick and it fledged 8-5-18, the same day as its sibling runt fledged from this nest. We hope to construct a new nest platform in the marsh near this snag nest in 2019. snag nest is falling
