Nesting Diaries

While most of my efforts while traveling are in documenting historic bridges, I also am fond of raptors. I stopped at this bridge to update the info and photos as documented at http://bridgehunter.com/id/nez-perce/29960/ and much to my delight I found a raptor nest! I am not at all experienced in observing osprey, but it appeared to me this was not the first season there was a nest here, but bridge photos taken in 2012 show no nest. There were at least three birds in the nest. Because they didn't fly, made a lot of noise, and how they behaved I'm guessing they were youngsters. They looked like they had flight feathers and could soon be flying. There were at least 3, maybe 4 osprey flying around near the bridge. I don't know if they were the parents, siblings, or unrelated to the young in the nest. None of them visited the nest while I was on the bridge. I got pictures of the nest and of the bridge - but it is a very long way from the area I usually travel, so I doubt I'll get to update this nest.
