Nesting Diaries

# 9 osprey pair on this nest again today after they abandoned their eggs over this past high wind weekend, nest looks much bigger now

03/23/2019 by baygirl
no one on the nest since the pair went to next door CM 9, but it has quite a bit of nest material so hope another pair can take this nice platform from the #9 osprey who think they should have 2 platforms for past 3 years!

09/20/2018 by baygirl
adult male osprey from next door CM9 on this nest platform with fish today at 5 pm.

09/09/2018 by baygirl
this platform makes a great perch for channel marker 9 osprey. there is not nest material on it, the design of the platform may be the cause as the ospreys do occasionally drop sticks on it but they blow off

08/18/2018 by baygirl
seeing the juveniles and adults from CM 9 here every day

08/03/2018 by baygirl
this platform is 100% the property of the osprey family that lives on the CM9 platform, they love to use this platform to eat, cry, socialize and simply get away from the crazy humans that go up and down the creek.

04/30/2018 by baygirl
no nest material added, no activity except the male from CM 9 nest continues to use this as his perch

04/07/2018 by baygirl
inactive again so far...the poor design of this (channel marker) cantilevered platform causes the nest material to blow off...

09/21/2017 by baygirl
this nest continued to be used as a guard perch by the male at CM9, 121 IB or #6232. once his chicks fledged they used is too and sometimes the entire family was on the nest, but not much nesting material remained from 2016. at the end of the season the adults moved back to their nest and it stands empty with not even a gull claiming it.

05/16/2017 by baygirl
new arrivals squabbling for this empty platform today, may be sub adults? they were tussling with the male from next door at . He believes the unused platform is his guard perch.

05/10/2017 by baygirl
this platform is not active again this season. it is once again a guard post for themale osprey from the platform next door, CM9,#6232, DE F&W 121IB

04/09/2017 by baygirl
1 osprey on the nest in the morning and all pairs accounted for at the colony of platforms.

04/02/2017 by baygirl
So far there are no osprey claiming this platform. Last year the osprey did not show up for this nest and so 9CM used it as a perch. thus far I have seen the male from 9 using it as a perch once again.

03/24/2017 by baygirl
Osprey on the nest off and on today..may be same bird from last year that ended up on CM 9 next door to this platform

09/14/2016 by baygirl
This platform continued to be used as a guard perch for the next door channel marker pair, CM9 (#6232) until the sole fledgling left on or about 9-5-16 and then the adult male on 9-14-16. Looking forward to seeing this nest platform occupied for 2017 as it was in 2015 when that adult pair fledged 3 chicks.

05/22/2016 by baygirl
This nest site has remained empty of any osprey pairs except it is used as a sometime guard perch for the male from #6232, channel marker 9.

Hard to believe after the past few crazy nesting seasons at this platform but this season it is empty. I can not confirm yet but I believe only half of this pair and the next door pair arrived and so they found each other and chose the other platform. Once I can get out on the water I can check for leg bands to confirm what I suspect..or not:)

04/20/2016 by baygirl
This pair has moved to nest #6232 after spending time for the past few weeks on both platforms and they began incubating 4/10/16

04/06/2016 by baygirl
Since 3-26-16 2 osprey have been flying back and forth between BM#3 and CM9 (DE F&W #129 IB) They have taken nest material to both nest sites, and are copulating at both nest sites. They do not allow other osprey to land on either nest site. I did see one bird on CM9 a few days earlier and one bird on BM#3 around that time also. I believe this may be a new pair who's prior mates did not arrive...yet? They are not settled on either nest site but spend most of the days on BM#3 and at sunset are usually on BM#3.
