One osprey observed at the nest
No chicks were seen on this nest during the 2018 season.
Adults have been seen on the nest all summer, but there has been no sign of any nestlings this year.
No sign of any nestling activity so far.
No sign of nestlings yet.
First sighting for 2018. One osprey on the nest this morning.
The last day a fledgling was observed on the nest was Sept. 25, 2017
One fledgling still hasn't left.
Today I observed all three young ospreys depart and/or return to the nest.
I suspect that all three chicks have fledged. However, I have only observed two leaving or returning to the nest. The third may have fledged, or may be hunkered down in the nest out of sight.
One fledgling seen returning to the nest from a nearby light pole. It is possible that all three have fledged, but only one was seen away from the nest. Stay tuned.
Three nestlings observed at Wallace Marine Park
Two chicks observed in the nest.
Two bald eagles and two other adult ospreys have been seen circling in the vicinity of the nest. I wonder if the ospreys are from the abandoned nest on Patterson Street.
One chick observed being fed. There may be another chick in the nest
Nest building continues, after surviving a day of high winds.
The second osprey has returned to Wallace Marine Park.
One osprey seen on the light pole of nest #5916.
The nest was removed by city maintenance workers in October 2016.
Late summer. I haven't seen much activity on the nest for the last couple of weeks. They are still in the area, perching on light poles in and near the softball fields. I don't know for sure if they've started to migrate. I saw three a couple of days ago, and thought I heard the fourth, but I can't say for certain. I also don't know if they migrate as a group, in pairs, or individually.
The plastic sheet which I previously reported as gone is in fact still on the nest.
July 25, 2016 - Two fledglings observed perched away from the nest.
The large plastic sheet is gone.
Two nestlings photographed in the nest. There is a large plastic sheet, possibly a garbage bag, snagged on the east side of the nest.
Two nestlings observed in the nest.
Definitely one nestling visible in the nest. It appears to be fairly well developed, based on its wing flapping.
One nestling observed today.
Pretty good photos of two adults on the nest.
The nest photo added on 5/02/16 was taken from underneath the nest.
I believe there are eggs in the nest. Although I haven't been able to photograph the two adults in the nest at the same time, I have seen one fly into the nest, and the other will fly away, with the newly returned adult taking its turn sitting on the nest.
Two adults seen on the nest 4/10/16.
One osprey at the nest on 3/22/2016. They're back!
I started paying attention to this nest in the summer of 2015. Observations were made with a pair of binoculars and a single-lens reflex camera equipped with a a 300mm telephoto lens or 300mm lens with a 2x converter. There were two adults and three chicks in the nest. I'm pretty sure two of the chicks fledged, but maybe all three did. All the occupants of the nest had disappeared by the end of Ocotber 2015.
