Nesting Diaries

I heard a week or so ago, that this nest was occupied. Today was my first visit. When I arrived, there were 3 ospreys swooping around the nest. After a while, it was just one sitting on the nest and the activity calmed down. I drove off before long and just as I got out on 123 at the intersection coming out of the park at the top of the hill, an osprey flew over my head with a big fish and perched in a tree next to the road. From Facebook by a woman who monitors this nest regularly. She posted a picture of a male on a female's back: The female Osprey has had 24 hours of rest now since arriving and it's time to get started on this year's family! This pair was starting into the ritual when a bunch of kids decided to throw rocks into the river. The mood was gone! The good news is that tomorrow the park will be pretty much empty and the Osprey will have undisturbed quality time to themselves.

I found out about this nest today by seeing it posted to Facebook [Ospreys Only] with a gorgeous shot of a juvie in it. Someone says it's been reported to Osprey-Watch, but it doesn't appear in my feed. So I am adding it. If it's a duplicate, then it can be deleted.
