SAD to report that nest #518 was apparently taken down today by tower workers. The pair had not started sitting but the nest has been active for four (4) years now since 2009. TOO BAD!!!!!! I'm not a happy camper.

8AM,Foggy and 56 degrees. Both Mama and Papa were sitting on the tower next to the nest. Seems like Mama is a drama queen. A pair of Crows came to the nest tower and perched on a deck below the nest. Mama didn't like that and flew over and perched close to them, sqalking loudly. One of the Crows jumped up and flew toward Mama and then Papa Ozzie took off chasing both crows away to a pine tree about 50 yards away.He actually flew into the pine branches during the chase and you could hear his wings flapping on the branches.Mama Harriett flew to the nest and Papa Ozzie also returned to the nest and immediately mated again. OF NOTICE, it seems when there has been a disruption by intruders, mating always occurs soon afterwards?? Don't know if that is a characteristic of Osprey or not?? But I have observed it when their space was intruded by Hawks,Vultures,Balded Eagle and Osprey #3 approached.

Today, 64degrees and partly cloudy. Arrived @ 3:45PM to find both Mama and Papa feeding on tower next to nest.Soon they were back in the nest when Mr Osprey #3 arrived. There was a lot of noise and Papa Ozzie took off after #3 and chased him away. Later Papa returned and continued raising the sidewalls of the nest.( see the last four (4) pictures)

Things seem calm at the nest today. Papa Ozzie was eating a fish on the other tower and Mama Harriett was preening and rearranging twigs in the nest. I did notice that Mama Harriett was sitting in the nest more today. During a hour and half period, she left the nest only twice and that was for a short time, maybe only five (5) minutes at a time. When she returned she did not bring food or twigs with her.Papa Ozzie was eating the whole time I was there,

The male appeared first on 3/03/2012. He began working on the nest.(adding sprigs) The female was there the next day. They have been mating several times every day since then. Today the male flew off and returned in about twelve (12) minutes with two (2 fish, one he dropped in the nest and the other one he ate while perched on one of the antenna bars.(see picture). The female ate in the nest. The fish in the picture is about a pound to pound and a half. Both have been working on raising the sides of the nest.
