The last few weeks have been fun watching the triplets taking soaring lessons. Seem to be pretty much on their own now. Always a couple hanging by the nest. Olivias 2nd attempt was certainly a success.
All is well here today Olivia , Ozzie and Jr preening themselves on nest. Adults have returned to their favorite dining area(my front lawn) to filet their fish. Wish I had decent camera.
Pretty sure I saw 3 nestlings. One was active stretching his/her wings getting ready to learn to fly. Mom (or Dad) was hanging out and giving a lot of "instructions". In other words, the parent was very talkative today.
Actually when Terri Ann saw Olivia sitting by nest she was alone. Storm in early April destroyed nest. Within a week the young chick had perished. First catatastrophe in the several years this couple has nested here. last year they hatched twins. Olivia spent 2 weeks seemingly alone. I do believe she nagged Ozzie constantly to rebuild, but he chose to fish and then disappeared. On April 23 we suddenly had a pair again. As of May 1 Olivia is either on or near the nest. Hopefully Ozzie and Olivia are reunited and are making a second attempt to raise a family this year.
