Nest #4733

Nickname: Lower Sackville
Nest substrate: Osprey Nest Platform
Nest Location Description: A new-to-me nest in 2013, it is located on the edge of an industrial area. At one point the nest was built on top of an electrical pole … I assume it is another example of Nova Scotia Power’s Relocation Program.

Nesting Diaries

Arrived in time to see the male fly to perch to prepare dinner for the female. The wind was very strong and his first attempt to get to the nest failed ... the female briefly joined him in flight. After resting and eating more on the power line (crazy bugger!), the male delivered the fish to the nest and the female was observed feeding chick(s).

Female continues to incubate.

Female incubating and the male perched close by on a light stand.

Arrived to find the female on the nest and moments later was joined by the male. After a short time there was an attempt at mating, albeit on top of a pylon so the balance wasn't quite there :)

In 2013, the pair raised and successfully fledged 2 chicks.
